in retrospect...

...was reluctant to leave the house this morning cos my mum was leaving. she's headed back home. Saying goodbye is one of the hardest things to do especially where a luv'd one involved. We prayed and eventually had to say goodbye and had to head for work. Missing her already.

On my way to work was reading the punch newspapers (yeah, yeah, i know wat u think, i read the papers too).

i read with interest an article on Eritrea's president Isias Afywer who had walked away from foreign aid amounting to $200million. Whao, that must be some crazy fellow i thot, but on reading further im discovered that he was merely trying top grow the economy of the country and as he said that cudnt be done if he had to enslave his country in debt.'until we're able to grow our economy to full production and manufacturing capacity, we wud accept no grants and our borders will remain shut to imports). That got me thinking, if only Nigeria cud do the same! How long shud neo-colonialism thrive in our continent? accepting ODA's AND DEBT instruments give rise to foreign interventions by the western world who think they have superiority only because of technological advantage.

I think, Mr. etritrean president shud be given the chance to work at bettering the lives of his people in the long term tho the short term may be unbearable. We as a whole shud also look inwards and rather than always asking assistance from the same people who seek to further enslave you pertually by asking you to take more debt until it now gets to the point where they now dictate their terms to you and you cannot but accept.

Gotta go, got a long weekend ahead. Stay blessed!
